Keeping track of your servers and folders has never been easier. Just don't forget to check the 'Add to Favorites' option when creating a new connection.
Additionally to server connections, you can drag any file or folder or application to the Sidebar Favorites for quick access.
You can drop items on Favorites, which will cause the item to be copied in the given target folder, or opened with the given application.
You can also access your Favorites from the QuickList or the Go Menu.
In addition, you can assign individual keybindings to your Favorites items for quicker access (ForkLift > Preferences > Keyboard).
- To add an item to the Favorites, you can simply drag and drop it to the Sidebar's Favorites section.
- For connections, don't forget to check in the 'Add to Favorites' box when creating the connection.
- To remove an item from Favorites, right-click and choose remove.
- To rename a favorites, use Rename from the right-click context menu (does not work on local Favorite folders).
- You can edit the connection details of Favorites pointing to remote folders by right-clicking them, and chosing edit.
[edit] Organizing Favorites
Adding to Finder's functionality, you can also create groups within Favorites to better organize your things. Just right-click on the sidebar below the Favorites section, and choose 'Create new group'.
You can freely rearrange your Favorites by dragging them up and down in the Favorites section
[edit] Local Path
When using a connection as Favorite you can specify a local folder that ForkLift will open in the second pane at the same time as opening the primary target of the connection in the active pane.
This effectively means that clicking a Favorite will load both a source and a target folder at the same time.
Set a Local Path on the Options tab of the Connect... panel. (e.g.:~/Documents/ForkLift/www/html, as the usual source folder on my machine, from where I upload to our ftp.binarynights.com server)
