Edit
From Forklift Wiki
Selected files can be opened for editing:
- by clicking the toolbar icon
- selecting Edit from the right-click context menu
- selecting File > Edit
- the commander style keybinding set allows the use of F4
You can customize which applications should be used for editing specific filetypes. Default editors are set under ForkLift > Preferences > Editing.
NOTE: You can turn on editing as default action on remote files (instead of Open) at ForkLift > Preferences > General > Open remote files for editing.
[edit] Remote editing
ForkLift allows you to edit files stored on remote servers in a single click action. Instead of downloading the file, editing it, and then uploading it again, you can directly edit a remote file through the Edit with... command, found in the right-click context menu of the item.
This will cause the remote file to be copied to the local cache and opened for editing. Unlike Open, the Edit with... function keeps monitoring the local file for changes and uploads the modified version back to the remote location on file save.
version: ForkLift 1.6
